Dr. Suzanne

I grew up in Stoughton, WI (near Madison) where I was exposed to veterinary medicine by being a volunteer kennel cleaner/dog walker at a local clinic.  I also developed a passion for horses and acquired a pony in fifth grade.  Through middle school and high school I spent all of my free time with my pony, and later, a Quarter Horse.  Choosing large animal veterinary medicine was an easy decision because it allowed me to combine my love of animals and the outdoors with my interest in science and medicine.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and started my career in central WI but relocated to Wisconsin Dells in the summer of 2013.  I quickly saw the need for an equine-focused practice in the Wisconsin Dells/Baraboo/Reedsburg and surrounding areas and launched Dells Equine to the appreciation of many horse owners and businesses.

I enjoy all aspects of equine medicine and surgery, from routine wellness appointments where everyone is happy and healthy, to lameness and medical workups, critical emergencies, vetting endurance competitions, work with non-profits, and public speaking and teaching events.  I am active in American Association of Equine Practitioners, Wisconsin Equine Practitioners Association and online equine veterinarian discussion lists, and enjoy reading the latest equine medical research as it comes out.

Another area of interest is international and cross-cultural veterinary medical outreach.  I was able to work with indigenous villages in Ecuador through Christian Veterinary Mission and will be going on more trips in the future.  Ask me about it!

My husband, Ryan, makes it possible for me to operate this practice with his understanding, support, and many talents.  We have a son named Levi and a daughter named Rylee who are on the road with me occasionally.  Thank you for being so kind to them.  We have three horses and enjoy a lot of trail riding.

In memory of Reggie, the kindest, bravest horse I have ever taken care of.    - Dr. Suzanne

"You truly are a wonderful vet and have been such a blessing to us.  I think you should teach a class to all vets on client relations because you are top notch. Thank you for always going above and beyond and for just being you." -Karalee Leatherberry
